Edna WILCOCKS 
1887 - 1969

Edna Marrett was born in Portland, Maine on May 10, 1887. She studied at Vassar College, Art Students League in New York City, and the Boston Museum School under Benson, Tarbell, and Hale. During World War One she was with the Red Cross in France where she met her husband-to-be, Fred Wilcocks. The couple made their home in Calgary, Canada where she taught art in the public schools. She moved to Altadena, California in the early 1930s where she remained. She taught art at Pasadena's Flintridge School for Girls (1934) and was art director at Anoakia School in Arcadia (1936-56). Mrs. Wilcocks died at her home in Altadena on November 28, 1969. Exhibited: California Watercolor Society, 1928-35; Pasadena Art Institute,1930-34; Women Painters of the West, 1933-55. Works held: Bowdoin College (mural); Court Houses in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (portraits).
